Girl Scout Cookies

Brendan J. Frog January 5th, 2009 10:00 pm

For many people, this is their favorite season of the year. No,  not playoff season, but cookie season. Specifically, Girl Scout cookie season.

Thankfully, there’s the internet. Where our forefathers may have gone cookieless, these days the Girl Scouts have a website where you can find out of the cookie sale has started in your ‘hood.

If it hasn’t started yet near you (and it hasn’t yet here at WB headquarters), you can sign up for an alert, and someone who is likely neither a girl, nor scout, will email you when they become available.

Happy DUI Year: Sam Shepherd

Moye J. Frog January 5th, 2009 9:07 pm

Acclaimed playwright and actor Sam Shepherd was apparently the only one who saw my blog post last week about celebrities driving drunk. He was ticketed on Saturday in Illinois for an illegally high blood alcohol level and driving 15 miles over the speed limit.

Thanks, Shepherd. It doesn’t seem like you were driving too fast, but now I got to blog about it.

Back To School With The Obama Girls!

Moye J. Frog January 5th, 2009 7:03 pm

You know the holiday season is really over when you find yourself back at school. The same goes for Malia and Sasha Obama who started their first day of school at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC.

The folks at Sidwell should be pretty used to celebrity students; Chelsea Clinton also attended the prestigious private school when her father was in office.

New Year’s Resolution: Make Lamer Jokes

Moye J. Frog January 2nd, 2009 6:40 pm

Start 2009 off right with an even worse sense of humor! As someone with a highly cultivated sense of one, I find it hard to degrade myself with bad jokes.

Fortunately, I can just buy one. John Harris from The Onion is auctioning off one original bad joke off eBay, which will be mailed to the winner on a 3×5 index card.

I am selling a joke that I can’t find a contextual home for. To be fair, it’s less of a joke and more of a dated, Capote-esque cocktail party bon mot, but decidedly more feeble.x

Uh…I don’t get it. But who cares, because that just makes it worse! The auction ends on January 5th and the current bid is at $370.00. So what are you waiting for? BID!

Best Movie Mistakes Of 2008

Brendan J. Frog January 2nd, 2009 11:30 am

I guess movies are hard to make, cause there’s a whole website devoted to movie mistakes called, shockingly, MovieMistakes.com. Since 2008 just ended, they’ve compiled a list of the best movie mistakes of 2008. Several blockbusters are on there, including Indiana Jones, The Dark Knight, and Iron Man, but a mistake from Meet The Spartans makes the top 5.

I thought that entire movie was a mistake. Zing!

Environmental New Year’s Resolutions

Brendan J. Frog January 2nd, 2009 9:49 am

Sure, anyone can resolve to lose weight or stop smoking, but if you are already thin, or don’t smoke, there are still a few New Year’s resolutions you can make to help out the environment.

My new year’s resolution is to stop poaching elephants, but most of the other resolutions are simpler.

You can check out the whole list at TheDailyGreen.com
